Welcome to National Spiritual Day

Celebrating spiritual values

Join us to celebrate what it means to be a spiritual being living in a physical body on our earth plane.

National Spiritual Day is a celebration dedicated to promoting connection, community, inclusivity, curiosity, acceptance, and a peaceful future. It serves as a day for people to come together and connect at a deeper level with family, friends, and others in their community.

National Spiritual Day is brought to you by Spiritualism New Zealand, a national body that brings together those who identify as Spiritualists and promotes an understanding of the principles of Spiritualism. Our 2026 focus, Building Spiritual Community, is about exploring the aspects of community – leading, contributing, maintaining harmony, belonging, spiritual spaces, traditions, and celebrations.

Focus

Over the next year, we’ll dive into the components of Building Spiritual Community including leading, contributing, maintaining harmony, belonging, spiritual spaces, traditions, and celebrations.

🌳✨ Did you know… the Tree of Life is actually a tree! 🌿The Tree of Life (Shajarat-al-Hayat) in Bahrain is a lone, 400+ year-old Prosopis cineraria tree standing in a barren area of the desert, around 40 km from Manama.🌵 What makes it so remarkable? No one knows for certain how it survives. Bahrain receives little to no rain throughout much of the year, yet this incredible tree continues to thrive. Its roots reach around 50 metres deep, which may be enough to access underground moisture. 💧🏺 In 2010, archaeologists unearthed 500-year-old pottery and other artefacts near the tree. Soil analysis concluded that the tree was planted around 1582.📸 One of our committee members, Richard, has visited the Tree of Life, and the image shared here is his photograph.🙏 We hope you will join us on 22 September to celebrate National Spiritual Day and honour the wisdom that is inherent in nature. 🌿✨#treeoflife #bahrain #ShajaratAlHayat #nature #wisdomofnature #nationalspiritualdaynz #spirituality #natureconnection #ancienttrees #desertlife #BahrainHeritage #wonderofnature #sacrednature ... ✨ Creating Space to Explore Spirit ✨ There was a time when many people were unable to openly explore spiritual ideas, practices, and experiences. The repeal of the Witchcraft Act in 1924 marked a significant shift, allowing greater freedom for spiritual exploration and expression.Over time, this helped create space for communities to gather openly — meditation circles, healing groups, spiritualist churches, and many other spiritual communities.Today, we continue to honour that freedom by creating spaces where people can come together to ask questions, share experiences, and explore what Spirit means to them.Spiritual communities are built on connection. They are places where people can feel: ✨ Seen ✨ Supported ✨ Heard ✨ ConnectedWhat makes a spiritual community feel welcoming to you?#SpiritualFreedom#celebratingspirit#SpiritualCommunity#ConnectionMatters#nationalspiritualdaynz ...
