Being True to Yourself – Sue Boyle
Some people are lucky enough to come into life already equipped with this strength and sureness. Others must find the long way by trial and error. Sooner or later on the spiritual/life pathway you are challenged to choose. Sometimes this choice is so important your life’s journey can be held by a paper-thin thread. Even not obvious of its importance until afterwards. Spirit say “every decision you make is the right one”.
Being true to yourself can affect other people, we sometimes aver in their favour and not be true to ourselves. But when you do it feels powerful and right. You’ve had the strength to pull away or alter course regardless of what others think. And finally you don’t feel guilty, or questioning of yourself, it feels clear and clean and opens up many new horizons. The lesson being when you look back on your delay, procrastination, people-pleasing – why did it take so long. “If it rings your bells, gives you love and motivation, that’s what you are meant to be doing”, another guide favourite.
Sooner or later on the spiritual journey you must make a choice to part ways with what you once believed and was endorsed by everyone else, to what you know to be true for you in your heart. It may take a moment or years to step onto the path you believe in. You will be torn between the two choices, fear of what people may say or do, fear of the change, but an excitement all the same as it feels right. This is being true to yourself. Making a stand for what you personally believe in, deciding not to do something when you would be pleasing someone else, speaking your truth, to declare a position you feel to be right. These challenges will always be part of our earthly life.
Being true to yourself brings power, a freedom from fear, self-respect, and growth.
