Play like there is no tomorrow

As children, we have great imaginations and love to play. We can make a game out of seemingly nothing and it can captivate us and others for hours on end. Some of us didn’t even need others around to have a good time as we had ‘imaginary’ friends who were the perfect playmates.

As adults, we learn to work, not play, but we are missing out on connecting with our true nature. What did you do for fun as a child? What would you really love to do now? What spins your wheels? If no-one was watching, what would you do?

Take a little bit, or a big bit, if you’re game, of what’s fun for you and start to bring it into your life every day. You may find this challenging because of what you think others may think. Put this aside as no matter what they think, that’s their issue not yours. There’s no need for you to engage with it.

Think about how you can incorporate your ‘fun’ into your life every day. By doing what you love every day, you inspire others to do the same. Initially, they may have a laugh at your expense but soon enough they will be laughing with you or they will drop away.

It’s important to BE who you are. Trust in life and its flow and take action based on what feels right for you. Be spontaneous when the moment strikes you. Stop trying to control life and just let it happen. At the start it may feel uncomfortable as you break through your self-imposed vows about the way things should be. Over time, you will come to love the new you who shares from the heart who you really are and has fun – lots of it!
