As many of us know and understand things happen for a reason; situations occur as lessons to teach us something important for our Spiritual Journey; experiences take place for a purpose, helping us to move on spiritually as well as in the physical life.
Since I was quite young I, like many other people, have undergone trials and tribulations – not often understood why at the time but looking back it becomes more apparent the necessity for such experiences.
As White Eagle has indicated, after traumas or hard times it is always followed by something lovely. This I have always experienced despite the length of the trial time which can be quite long and arduous.
I was often told as a young child to listen to the ‘inner voice’. Like so many of us I wasn’t sure at times whether it was my own thoughts surfacing or a Guide or loved one working through me.
One experience I had when I was a young teacher living in England and about to move into my own flat in order to be nearer my school – up to now it had taken me at least a good hour to drive each way and not very pleasant in the cold wintry weather with hills – some very steep – to contend with.
There had been a snow storm during this particular weekend and by Monday morning everywhere was covered in white. On the Friday I had borrowed two carpet sample books from a shop near where I taught and because I had promised to return them on the Monday I didn’t even consider using public transport which would take twice as long. I need the car because the books were so heavy and cumbersome. The ‘inner voice’ came through very loud and clear and told me not to take the car but I argued and said “I must take the car because I had promised to return these books today”. Promises are to be kept was my way of thinking! I knew I wouldn’t be able to cope with them on a bus, then a walk up a steep hill to the railway station, catch a train and have a walk at the other end! So I took the car.
The second mistake was I didn’t even consider going the long way round where the roads would have been cleared to reach the main Brighton to London road. Blithely I went my usual route taking the back roads which had not been cleared and hilly terrain too! Just as I started to crawl slowly down this hill – just a few yards from the traffic lights at the Brighton to London road – I got into a skid and try as I did to guide the car towards someone’s driveway I hit the verge which was quite high on the side of the road and unfortunately I did not reach that driveway. Instead the car rolled – it was like slow motion! I remember concentrating on my legs and tried keeping them away from the steering column as they seemed to be gravitating to that area. Soon I was rescued and helped out of the car. I had not realised how busy that road was and traffic had been held up both ways. Luckily I was not hurt – only bruised and my pride shattered and wished the ground would open up and swallow me.
I still persisted, despite all the various offers of help, to drive on after the car had been put back on its wheels. I reached the garage before the next hill and felt I needed to call in to have the car checked out before attempting the climb! I was asked to drive onto a ramp and they raised the car with me inside. They had a good look and the verdict was not good. It was in no condition to be driven at all as there had been much damage caused by the rolling. I had to resort to public transport after all! It was several weeks before the car was ready to be driven again. That was a very hard lesson – never forgotten.
Now over the years I have become more attuned to my Guides and loved ones. I can receive messages and converse with them on occasions. I think one has to experience and appreciate more the real meaning of life – knowing the bigger picture! I am gaining more ‘inner peace’ and it is so wonderful.
